Winterize
a pond

Winterizing a pond is necessary for the survival of the fish over the cold winter
months. The fish go into a hibernation stage and a hole in the ice must be left open
for the fish to survive the snow and ice. The photos below, show how a pond deicer
and a aerator bubbler will create a hole in the ice. This will produce fresh air and
oxygen and also release gases that the fish produce during the winter.
When the fish are hibernating during the winter months, do not feed the fish.
Start to feed the fish in the spring season, when the water tempature reaches
55 degrees and above. A spring wheat germ food is recomended.

The fish will not survive the winter season without these two items
